N.B. - If you've experienced a UFO encouter in Ireland, you can report it at www.ufoi.org.
The UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) phenomena has been around for hundreds of years with sightings going back to 100 BC or even further. Unfortunately most people think one of two things when they hear of a UFO sighting, either 'your crazy' or its an craft from another planet. There has been a major misconception with regards to all UFO sightings mainly down to Hollywood and the media, this being that the majority of sightings can be explained away as experimental aircraft, satellite, bird, a form of lighting etc.
There are many paintings that go back hundreds of years with references to flying craft, below you will see a few of these paintings:

"The Annuciation" was painted by Carlo Crivellie(1430-1495). The first image above you will see the full painting and under it you will see a zoomed in section of the painting with a 'saucer' shaped object and a light either coming out or going into the 'saucer' shaped object.

"The Miracle of the Snow" was painted by Masolino Da Panicale (1383 - 1440). This painting shows a male and female person on a cloud in the sky, supposed to be Jesus and Mary.

"The Madonna with Saint Giovannino" it's not known who the author of this painting is. Above Mary's right shoulder you can see a 'saucer' shaped object and in the second image you can see a zoomed in section of the painting which clearly shows a man and dog looking up at the object.
Only in the past 60-70 years has the UFO phenomena become so prevalent with people becoming more accepting to the existing phenomena and with the interest by some governments to start studies into the UFO phenomena, most notably Project Blue Book by the USAF(United States Air Force) back in 1952. Since then multiple governments have relesed previously classifed documents pertainting to catalogued sightings and other such studies into the UFO phenomina but as of yet there has been no aknowlegdement as to the soucre/origin of the unexplained UFO sightings.
To be continued...
